CHAMPIONSHIP RULES
- Except as varied herein all ties are to be played under EBF rules as published in the current EBF and Durham County handbook.
- Each player must be a member of an outdoor club affiliated to the Durham County Bowling Federation (ladies equivalent for mixed pairs and rinks). Rinks and pairs need not comprise of players from the same affiliated club.
- In rinks/pairs and triples the rink/pair /triples playing the first game shall constitute the rink/pair/triples throughout except that one (and the same) substitute shall be allowed in any rink/pair/triples, provided he/she has not already played for another rink/pair/triples in the same competition. In the event of a question about eligibility of a bowler in the pairs/ mixed pairs/ rinks/ triples & mixed rinks game, a protest must be submitted to the competition secretary, within 48 hours of the conclusion of the disputed game.
If the eligibility is confirmed the game played with an illegible player will be declared void and the game awarded to the none offenders - Any competitors not complying with these rules will be scratched from the competition and further action will be considered where violation of rules 2 and 3 are proven. Each member of a rink/pair/triples will be responsible for ensuring compliance with these rules.
- All ties must be played before the closing date for the round. The first named on the draw sheet will be the challenger and must give his opponent at least 2 dates on which to play the tie. The offer of 2 dates must be made at least 8 days before the closing date for the round or the challenger will forfeit the tie. Except by mutual agreement, ties shall not commence earlier than 6.00pm. mid-week or 12.00 noon week-ends. The opponent must accept one of the given dates and reply within 48 hours of receiving these. Any date offered to an opponent where only one player from the team is involved in another EBF, BD or BE national tie or county representative match or championship is to be deemed as an acceptable date and the opponent will need to use a substitute. If the home team has offered two dates before the 8 day rule applies and at least one date is acceptable under the rules but the away team are unable to play then the home team will be awarded the tie. A player or team who find that they cannot accept either of the dates offered, due to involvement in another Marshall, EBF, BD or BE national tie or county representative match or championship, may apply to the County Competition Secretary to arrange an alternate date and his adjudication in the event of any dispute is final. 15 minutes of an agreed tie shall forfeit the tie. All ties to be played within Durham County area.
- Games will be of the following duration:
Rinks, pairs and mixed pairs/rinks – 21 completed ends.
Triples – 18 completed ends.
Singles – First to 21 shots.
Two trial ends may be played at the request of either party.
In the event of a tie finishing level, an extra end shall be played until a result is achieved. - Rink fees for the Finals will be paid for by the Federation.
- Completed score cards bearing the names of all players and signed by both skips must be forwarded by the winners within 24 hours of the game to the Competition Secretary additionally results can be phoned in on the day (before 10pm) or email: [email protected]
